Wednesday, 12 November 2014, will see the start of the new 10-episodes series “Die Detektive” produced by MR FILM Kurt Mrkwicka Ges.m.b.H. The overall production costs for this exclusively Austrian production amount to EUR 6.431.178 of which the Austrian Television Fund (FERNSEHFONDS AUSTRIA) provided EUR 1.258.000, hence 20%.
Two unequal half-brothers are reunited by the death of their father: one brother is a meticulous tax accountant, the other one is chaotic, takes life easy and likes to travel the world. Without actually intending to do so, they set out to continue the work of their father, who was a private detective. And they also begin to doubt that their father really died from heart failure.
The series is set in Vienna. Austrian actors among the cast are Johannes Zirner in one of the leading roles, Katharina Strasser, Lukas Resetarits and Wolfgang Böck.
ORF eins shows a double episode of the new series on Wednesday, 12 November – starting times are 8:15 pm and 9:05 pm.
3sat will show another supported production, a television film titled „Willkommen in Wien“, on Tuesday, 11 November 2014. The Austrian Television Fund (FERNSEHFONDS AUSTRIA) contributed EUR 339.753 (19.9%) of the overall production costs totaling more than EUR 1.7 million.
The Austrian Television Fund (FERNSEHFONDS AUSTRIA), established at RTR, is the largest funding agency for television productions in Austria. Funding is provided for the production of television films, series and documentaries with a clearly recognizable economic reference to Austria by production companies with business premises or a branch in Austria.
