The Digitalisation Fund supports projects for digital transmission technologies and applications in connection with broadcasting programmes and is set up at the Media Division of the Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR Media).
The fund has an annual budget of €500,000, which comes from those parts of the broadcasting fees that are collected together with the ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) programme fee but are allocated to the federal budget.
Funding decisions are made by RTR's Managing Director after consultation of KommAustria and in accordance with the funding objectives.
Funding concept
A plan was developed for the use of the funds. It describes the planned foci for the funding activities. The individual focus areas are continuously reviewed for relevance and suitability, so the relative allocation of funds can vary from year to year.
