In technical issues, the supervisory body cooperates with a body referred to as a confirmation body or a body in another EU Member State designated as specified in Art. 30(1) of the eIDAS Regulation, and confers with that body.
As of 1 July 2016, the conformity of devices for qualified electronic signature or seal creation with the security requirements specified in the eIDAS Regulation has to be certified by a confirmation body or by a body in another EU Member State that has been designated as specified in Art. 30(1) of the eIDAS Regulation. Secure signature creation devices are also considered to be qualified signature creation devices if their conformity with the previously applicable Signatures Directive was certified prior to 1 July 2016.
The Secure Information Technology Center Austria (Zentrum für sichere Informationstechnologie – Austria, A-SIT) is currently Austria’s only recognised confirmation body.
