To be able to run the tests, the Android app needs the following permissions:
- "Location – precise (GPS) and approximate (network-based)" or "Allow access to device's location":This permission allows the app to retrieve your location and e.g. to locate the test result on the map. Starting with Android 8.1 this permission is also necessary for displaying the WLAN identifiers SSID and BSSID. This permission can be withdrawn by the user, constraining the functionality of the app by doing so.
- "Telephone – read phone status and identity" or "Allow to make and manage phone calls":This permission is needed by the app to recognise dual SIM devices. This permission can be withdrawn by the user, constraining the functionality of the app by doing so.
- "Network communication – full network access, view network and Wi-Fi connections":In order to establish a test connection and to test the network parameters of your Internet connection, the app needs access to your network communication.
- "Your accounts – read Google service configuration":This permission allows the app to read configuration data for the presentation of Google maps.
- "Battery – prevent phone from sleeping":The measurement of the RTR-NetTest could be biased if your smartphone's state changes to sleep while running a test.
